The Newport homecoming football game was an intense matchup against Halifax that kept students and other fans on the edge of their seats. The game was held on October 10 and started at 7 pm on George Katchmer Field.
Newport scored its only touchdown in the first quarter on a run by Trevin Arnold, who finished with 32 yards on 9 carries. Dalton Kratzer led Newport’s rushing effort with 91 yards on 12 carries. The team completed 6 of 16 passes for 50 yards and threw two interceptions.
After Newport’s early touchdown, Halifax scored 27 points to secure the win. Despite the loss, Newport remained spirited. Each player, cheerleader, and band member stayed positive throughout the game, and Newport’s players congratulated their opponents after the game ended.
