Innovation, Newport’s elite choral group, held auditions in early September and announced its new members.
The group, conducted by Mrs.Rebecca Wiles and Mrs. Amy Finnerty welcomed the new members. The only middle schooler in the group is Madilyne Bailor. The Freshman are Logan Cigic, Hunter Erney, and Paityn Warner. The Sophomores are Calleigh Barlup, James Heisey, and Garrett Jenney. Then finally we have the juniors which are Reily Babski, Taylor Barr, Jordan Briggs, Sophia Griffin, Hannah Mallonee, and Jenna Nail.
“I am really excited for my first year in Innovation based on the practices we have done so far. I think the team is on a good track for upcoming events,” says the soprano Bailor.
Mrs. Wiles added, “I think they will do very nicely; they sound amazing even after a couple of rehearsals.”
Finally, Babski, a baritone member, added, “…we have a really good team this year and not a lot of new people [to train].”
Now the purpose of the Innovation Group is to compete in a competition and win different rankings, like bronze, silver, and gold, by professional choir judges. So with a concert coming up soon in December, many people think that they are more than ready to perform and defend their gold rank title from last year.
