Indoor track season has started, and a few boys are already beginning strong. The people participating are sophomores Alfonso Tubioli and Logan Smith, juniors Elizabeth Hoover and Henry Barlup, and seniors Zachariah Mouhssin and Bradyn Diaz. These motivated students drive to Greenwood every Tuesday and Thursday to improve their performance for the season.
Starting early to prepare for their events, the participants run around Millerstown to condition. Track is considered a fast-paced, challenging sport that requires determination to get better and the mental strength to want to push oneself to get better. It teaches the team discipline and resilience.
Outside of the competition, track can build relationships with others. Participating in these runs with their teammates can help people who practice together make themselves better for the rest of the team, so they can share their success. Alfonso Tubioli says, “Working with other people is better than running alone; it provides more motivation to enhance your performance.”
Indoor track is a way to prove that you are highly motivated and ready to try your best when the actual season rolls around; it shows that you are ready to work together to bring your team towards victory. Therefore, track isn’t just about winning, but personal growth, dedication, and the relentless quest for quality.
