On Nov 11, 2025, students, staff, and some community members gathered in the auditorium for the annual Veterans Day celebration to honor the brave men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces.
The high school choir began by singing the National Anthem, and “He Ain’t Heavy He’s My Brother” during the opening of the assembly.
Concluding their singing, the band then played the familiar song, the “Armed Forces Medley.” As everyone applauded, the choir and band, National Honor Society officers approached the podium. The NHS students provided background about the meaning and importance of Veterans Day before they introduced our guest speaker, Bradley Ferringer.
Mr. Ferringer discussed his life and detailed how he became a part of the Army, but not right out of high school. While many servicemen and women enlist directly after high school, he took time to grow a family, then joined the ranks; since his military retirement, he continues to work as a Lieutenant at a prison.
As taps played in the background, the weight of remembrance fell on the students as they watched a moving slideshow with pictures of those loved ones who were veterans. Everyone took that time to reflect on what Veterans Day means to them. Once again, NHS created not just a ceremony, but a heartfelt tribute.
