On Oct. 11, 2025, Newport high schoolers gathered in the school cafeteria for a night of music and dancing.
From powder puff to the pep rally and then the parade, the football game followed after, all built up to the main event: the Homecoming Dance. Hosted by the Newport Student Council, the dance was a two-and-a-half-hour night filled with 2010s pop songs and line dances that everyone knew.
The Homecoming Queen was announced at the homecoming football game, but on the night of the dance, Newport found out their homecoming king. This year, senior Zachary Bates was crowned king, standing right next to the homecoming queen, Korimae Resinger.
This year’s homecoming theme was Disney, and the dance theme was Tangled. The cafeteria was decorated with glowing lanterns and the iconic sun symbol from the beloved Disney movie. Student Council provided an area for photo opportunities with glittering lights, green vines, and a purple backdrop.
Drinks were being sold at the back to help the Student Council offset costs. The dance floor was full, and everyone was singing along to the classic school dance songs. Students formed a dance circle and performed the Cha-Cha Slide; the night did not fall short on laughs or new dance moves.
