After a nearly three-year hiatus, alt-R&B artist Steve Lacy released his single ‘Nice Shoes’ as a preview to his highly anticipated third album, Oh Yeah.
Lacy started producing and making music in 2013 when he was just 15 years old. He is part of the small category of producers and songwriters to earn a Grammy before graduating high school.
Additionally, Lacy produces a large amount of his own music on his iPhone using the free app GarageBand. He has also used GarageBand when producing for other artists like Kendrick Lamar’s “Pride.” However, the song “Nice shoes” was created in a traditional recording studio with two producers, Nick Weiss and Matthew Castenallos. The single has been released on many major streaming platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify.
His last album, “Gemini Rights,” produced and released in 2022, included popular songs like “Bad Habits”, “Helmet,” and “Static.” It also earned Lacy his first Grammy award for “Best Progressive R&B Album.”
