Week six of football for the Buffaloes was the Homecoming game on Sept. 29 versus Line Mountain. Newport went scoreless with a 0-27 to the Eagles. “That was the most heartbreaking loss of the entire season… having all of those people show up to support us then leave disappointed hurt,” captain Christian Walter said.
In week seven, Newport traveled to Susquenita on Oct. 6th where Bates put up two touchdowns against the Blackhawks for a final score of 14-42.
On Thursday of week eight, Oct. 12, the Buffaloes visited the unrivaled Steelton-Highspire Steamrollers. Bates put up two touchdowns against them for a final score of 12-67.
The Buffaloes received another loss in week nine against the Halifax Wildcats at Katchmer Field, 22-46. On Oct. 20, Kratzer, with the help of his line, put up three touchdowns and scored a two-point conversion on his last touchdown, but it was not enough to take the game.
For the last game of the season on Oct. 27, the team traveled via charter bus to James Buchanan. At the half, Newport was up 22-0 against the Rockets. To wrap it up, Newport ended the game 29-0 and left Rocket Stadium with their first and only win of the season, granting them a 1-9 record.
