The cross country season has just started and the players are hyped for it. There have been three meets so far, one invitational and two regular, and it is looking to be a productive, eventful season.
The first regular meet took place at Little Buffalo State Park on Aug. 30 where the boys placed 8th, 12th, 22nd, 23rd, 30th, and 34th. The girls placed 9th, 10th, 12th, 20th, 21st, and 24th. The second took place at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy on Sept. 6 at Indian Valley Elementary School in Lewisville.
The boys/girls team placed 3rd at Saint Joseph’s and last at Little Buffalo. In the Indian Valley meet, Newport did not have enough players to count as a team, so the placement is not applicable. One of the runners from these events, Jordin Briggs, stated about the two non-invitational meets, “I felt better at the Little Buffalo course than the Saint Joseph’s course because of the environment. I expected to PR at Saint Joseph’s, but I didn’t, so it was disappointing.”
