On Nov. 18, the National Honor Society held the first-ever ‘Fall Festival.’ The Fall Festival, or Fall Fest, was like a mini carnival without the rides, as National Honor Society advisor Mrs. Briggs explained.
In the gym, there were challenges like apple bobbing, pumpkin bowling, three-legged races, and much more. Some challenges were hand-made by members of the National Honor Society and other students.
The hand-crafted challenges included zombie eyeball toss, poke a pumpkin, candy corn toss, real-life memory, pin the face on the pumpkin, and minute-to-win-it challenges. These challenges all had prize baskets for the winners. In the cafeteria, there were crafts like turkey windsocks, bead bracelet making, popsicle crafts, paper plate crafts, and other fun activities. There was also food.
The National Honor Society did not make out as well as they had hoped. Mrs. Briggs said, “… I believe [the turnout] was due in part to other things going on and it being so close to Thanksgiving.” They definitely spent more money on the event than they did earn money from it, but at the end of the day, it was a learning experience and they know what to do differently for next year.
Mrs. Briggs is optimistic for next year and has a few other ideas for the festivities. “I would do it again, but we would probably push the date closer to the beginning of November or at the end of October. I feel that everybody who came had a good time,” she commented.
