It makes sense for teenagers to be scared of High School; after all, upperclassmen can be scary and intimidating. We asked some of the members of the incoming class of 2027 about their high school fears
“My biggest fear entering high school would have to be the new teachers,” says Madyson Keefer. Some students become close to their middle school teachers and it can be sad to leave them, especially when facing a new group of unknown teachers. What if they’re nice or what if they’re all mean?
“I was afraid that I would be overwhelmed with work whenever I started high school,” said Robert Regester. Most kids hate homework; while the workload for school is always rather manageable, all the media showing high schoolers carrying around big books and having stuffed backpacks can be pretty intimidating.
“I always thought that the High School layout was confusing looking,” commented Nolan Vela. The Newport Middle and High School building has three floors, and the high school uses all of those floors. Most of the classrooms are on the second floor but some students also have to go to the first floor and the third floor to get to their classes. Not to mention, there are a lot more kids in the hall you have to avoid running into, especially since most of them are too busy talking to notice you.
