Title Fight is an alternative rock band formed in 2003 in Kingston, PA. The band contains four core members: singers Jamie Rhoden and Ned Russin, guitarist Shane Moran, and drummer Ben Russin. These four late high school and early college students would become one of the greatest hardcore new rock wave bands of the early 2000s and 2010s. They released 3 studio albums before their hiatus in 2018, with radio silence to the masses.
Their first studio album was “Shed,” a super alternative hard rock atmosphere mixed with teenage angst and aggressive guitar riffs. The slow, almost melancholy lyrical portions throughout the album give a sense of why Title Fight stands out against the wave of aggressive, angsty, hard rock-oriented bands. Shed gave a new sound, something people needed to hear in the moment. Every song off the album displays a different feeling. Using fast-paced, sloppy guitar riffs mixed with chaotic drum sequences to convey an orchestral-feeling sound. This album is the one that garners most of the support from the fans.
The next album is titled “Floral Green,” created in 2014. The band somewhat sided with the more melodic side of Shed and decided to create a more melodic and hyper experience. One notorious song from this track list is titled “Lefty.” A harder rock sound from the rest of the album, with an extremely catchy and raw vocal melody to accompany the hard guitar riffs. This album is more riff-based, with a lot of complex and cool-sounding melodies. This album is noted by fans to be the second best.
The final album they created before their long hiatus is titled “Hyperview.” Made in 2018, this album is a more shoegaze-based album with fewer loud and powerful songs. A lot of this album has heavy, distorted guitars overlapping with other guitars. The sound is ethereal, but eventually gets to a dull point throughout the album. This album has received the least notability, but that is not saying much in comparison to the great notability the other albums have received. One of the stand-out songs of this album is called “Trace Me Onto You,” a more rock-heavy track that has an unforgettable guitar riff, with almost orchestral vocals overlaying it.
Title Fight has been gone for 8 years now, and their tunes still stand notorious among fans of hard rock. Their impact has been a catalyst for new hardcore rock bands all around the nation.
