Seth Prosser
The 2024 Valedictorian, Seth Prosser, is the son of Kevin Prosser and Stephanie Lowe and the stepson of Anna Emanoff and John Wilson. He is the younger brother of Maxwell Prosser and Trinity Prosser.
Prosser is an active member of the school, serving as president of Student Council, Spanish National Honor Society, and the class of 2024 council, as well as being a member of the National Honor Society. He is the 2023-24 editor-in-chief for the Blue and White and a contributing member of the yearbook club. Prosser plays the alto saxophone for concert band and county band. He has been part of the Spring musical stage crew for six years and is a member of the esports chess team.
Outside of school activities, Prosser has worked as an actor for Terror Farm since 2018. He enjoys playing chess, reading books, playing video games, and spending time with his friends and family.
Prosser has held the goal of being Valedictorian since the very beginning of his high school career. He has dedicated a significant portion of his time to his studies and investing in his education.
Mrs. Angela Stewart describes Prosser as a “true academic” and “one of the best editors [she’s] ever had.”
Mrs. Nicole Cirulli said “What made teaching Seth fun was watching him turn concepts around like a Rubik’s Cube until all the colors aligned. He has a curiosity that is not as common in students these days.”
“[My high school experience] was amazing,” explains Prosser, “I’ve had a great time and done a whole lot and I’ve known so many great people and I’m so very grateful for how those many people have changed me.”
Prosser gives some advice for incoming students, “No matter how much you care about your academics, I think at the end of the day what’s important is making sure you have other things besides academics that you’re putting your focus into. Whether it be sports or clubs or any activity…you want to devote your time…to something you genuinely enjoy in addition to your academics.”
Upon graduation, Prosser plans to attend Penn State for aerospace engineering. He is also considering adding an MBA in graduate school to ultimately pursue a management position at an aerospace engineering company.
Lucas Beaver
Lucas Beaver is the son of Brett Beaver and Robin Beaver. He is the older brother of Sam Beaver and the younger brother of Jackson Beaver.
Beaver participates in numerous activities at Newport High School, including being the treasurer of the Student Council (4), secretary of the National Honor Society (2), secretary and current president of the Sportsman’s Club (3), and a member of Spanish National Honor Society (1). Additionally, Beaver is in 4H. He has also played the French horn in concert band for 9 years and in county band for 5 years.
In athletics, Beaver has played not only on the Greenwood Soccer team for four years but also on the Penn FC soccer team for seven years. He has also been a part of the Track & Field team for three years while throwing javelin and jumping in the high, long, and triple jumps.
Beaver’s accomplishments have not gone unnoticed. In his Junior year, he received the Junior Interview Award for having the best mock interview. He has also received the President’s Award, the Tri-valley Scholar-Athlete Award, and a Blue Ribbon for his 2023 4H teen leadership.
Outside of school and his extracurriculars, Beaver enjoys hunting, fishing, playing the piano, and is an avid backpacker. He also enjoys spending time with his friends and family.
Beaver never truly set the goal of becoming a Salutatorian, but instead, he always strived to be the best he could be. He says “It was never about getting an award, but how much I could achieve academically.” However, he also said, “Ever since Alex was set as number two in our freshman year, I knew I couldn’t let that happen.”
Mr. David Bower says “Lucas was very dedicated in the classroom and grew into a strong, reliable leader in student council.”
Mrs. Cirulli says “It was a given with Lucas that you were always going to get his best work, but it was his sense of humor and laid-back demeanor that many of us will be missing when he graduates.”
Beaver advises other high school students to “Work hard, be sure to stay on top of your things… and stay open-minded. Try new things!”
After high school, Beaver plans to attend Elizabethtown College for a degree in civil engineering.
