After months of planning and preparation, the National Honor Society (NHS) hosted morP: “A Night in Paris” for middle school students on Apr. 6 from 6-9 pm in the High School Cafeteria. The name morP is a play on the formal high school Prom dance, as morP is designed to be more informal.
The NHS members worked very hard on the decorations, such as the chandeliers, the bakery front, and the centerpieces in order to bring the dance together. NHS President, senior Alex Reisinger stated, “I think that all of the hard work we put into the decorations was worth it in the end. I overheard many students talk about how nice the cafeteria looked and how nice the decorations were.” Adviser Mrs. Nichole Briggs, along with all of her NHS staff, really made the night in Paris come to life.
There was a broad selection of food, including cake, donuts, cookies, brownies, and fruit. This year’s morP also featured a wonderful chocolate fountain. Vice president of NHS, senior Jordan Knouse, said, “The kids really liked the chocolate fountain and lots of them even came back for seconds and thirds!” Even though there was chocolate everywhere, the kids really enjoyed it.
Mrs. Briggs said, “I think the dance went very well! From what I saw, I would say the kids had fun. They were dancing, laughing, and requesting a lot of fun music.” She added, “I think there was a little bit of something for everyone who attended.”
All in all, everyone who attended thought that the dance turned out awesome. Sixth-grade Sydney Morris stated, “I loved the decorations and music. My favorite part was getting to see my friends and seeing everyone having a good and fun time.”
