Indoor track sprints to the finish after one meet

This school year, the indoor track season was quite calm and relaxed. The team consisted mostly of distance runners, senior Matthew Tubioli Jr and juniors Aaron Duffy and Evan Gates. The practices involved a timed free-run, which occurs two times a week, with some harder workouts sprinkled throughout the winter.

The season consisted of one meet, the River Hawk High School Invitational. Held on Jan. 12 at Susquehanna University, Tubioli was the only runner present at this meet, competing in the 800-meter race. He placed fourth out of 41 runners with a time of 2:06.28. Although this was the only meet of the season, it set up expectations for the outdoor track season to come.

This is the second time Newport and Greenwood have had a genuine indoor track program that could be made official, with sign-ups present in both schools.
