It may have been cold, it may have been rainy, but the Class of 2025 hosted their 2024 “Land of Pure Imagination” Prom at the Annsfield Estate on Sat., May 4.
The Annsfield Estate included a historic mansion open to all students and their parents and a large outdoor pavilion decorated with glittery tulle and lights.
After check-in, a professional photographer from Lifetouch documented students as they arrived. Students and their parents were encouraged to take advantage of the mansion, porch, and grounds for photos beginning at 6:00. A candy-themed photo booth tucked into a back room in the mansion captured silly photos throughout the evening.
At 7:00, the students entered the pavilion for dinner where the “Land of Pure Imagination” theme was seen throughout as each table was marked with a type of candy rather than numbers. The centerpieces contained multiple types of candy that students were encouraged to take and eat. Additionally, the Prom favor was an engraved glass that students could fill with candy as they left.
There was a wide variety of food options at Prom. For dinner, students could eat chicken, beef, vegetables, and a variety of potato options. For dessert, students were treated to an ice cream sundae bar, slushies, and a candy table. “We splurged on food at the request of the kids,” stated class co-advisor Mrs. Angela Stewart. “However, we worried about it as we sold more and more tickets and especially after we got the invoice. People went back to the buffet for seconds so I guess it was good,” she added.
In anticipation of possible poor weather conditions, large outdoor heaters were brought in to alleviate discomfort from the low temperatures. The rain did not significantly impact the people taking pictures outside, rather pushing people towards the inside of the mansion for pictures. The planned bonfire with smores, however, was canceled due to the rain.
The Class of 2025 hired a DJ from the same company they used to host the Sophomore Tea Last year. Not only did he manage to get everyone onto the dance floor, he kept most of them dancing, and warm, for the entire night. Junior Nathanael Stuck said, “The music at prom was very upbeat and interactive.”
At 9:00, Junior class president Kat Ebling introduced the prom court which included queen candidates Makayla Caldwell, Jordan Knouse, Leah Stuck, and Alexandria Reisinger and king candidates Zach Bellis, Michael Cleaver, Ruben Moreno, and Nick Stuck. Reisinger and N. Stuck were crowned.
Overall, the Class of 2025’s Land of Imagination Prom was a success. Students enjoyed the venue, food, and entertainment brought to the dance. The Class of 2026, who hosted this year’s Sophomore Tea, is set to host the prom in 2025.
